Title: Someplace cold

This used to be one of the most popular of my surreal works back in the mid 90's. I received many, many emails from people all over the world telling me how much they like it. Many were asking about surreal posters also, which at the time I could not provide. Perhaps the beautiful shades of blue and a tranquil, spiritual feel to it makes this image so appealing. This image was featured on the inside of the CD cover of the MacFormat magazine (March 1996) from UK.

I really like your drawing and I also like the color blue and with the white even better. Nice work

Ryan from Australia wrote:October 7, 2007

Blue is my favourite colour and this pic kinda looks like what someone on Pluto would possibly see when they're looking out into the night sky. This picture can't simply be summed up in to one word but I can think of two words: Simply magnificant!!!!

Melany from usa wrote:July 19, 2007

It makes me feel relaxed and lonely at the same time. This art is perfect because the way the mountains has been made makes it look more three dimensional because of its overlapping look. This piece is great.

richard from netherlands wrote:July 19, 2007

Blue,i do like blue, the use of burgundy red in the black stone, combined with the height of the strokes is real cool :-).
Should there be a white beach in front of the cliffs then this would be a wonderful painting for a piece I wrote.
I like the depth and realism of the painting.

I sit in a boat and float along staill waters. In the distance a faint red sun looks over the horizon while a full moon parades nearby one last time.
I look to the canyons aside me, towering old rock people turning their back on rising sun rays to protect their shrouded face.
Youg to old walk back into the cliffs and I am left alone adrift in still waters facing a rising red sun.

Todos as imagens do sulreal são fantástica, imaginação brilhante para criar obras tão prima. Comparo estes trabalhos aos de mestre do sulrealismo " Salvadro Dali ".

I'd like to submit an additional explanation for the appeal of this picture. Contrasts are very powerful tools; in music a key change from major to minor can make a song much more somber than it ever could be in just minor. Similarly this picture is beautiful and tranquil, but is also very harsh and forbidding (i.e. the snow and sharp mountain peaks). Incredible work.

Its fantastic wrote:March 5, 2001

This is beautiful! Very good job! Your imagination is just a wonderful place! Very nice!=)

Christina Johansson wrote:March 4, 2001

Wow, you are truly amazing! When I see this picture, it has both breathtaking beauty and mercyless cold. You really feel the silence, you really freeze if you look at it. I picture myself that many visitors have been so stunned by the beauty in the icy caverns, by the pale light reflecting in the cold landscape, that they froze to death, forever captured in a crystal of ice, the divine beauty that became their death.

The ice flow in the lower left hand corner looks like a translucent humanoid figure with their head thrown back. It is easier to see this in the thumbnail than in the large picture. Was this intentional? It lends the picture a somewhat erotic quality.
