Suburbs 2100
This 3D Sci-Fi city image was done for a contest. Initially, the idea was to have a view over a futuristic city with a nice progression from the foreground and the city as the far background. Due to time constraints I ended up making many changes, so the original idea was no longer there. The whole image was created over a 3 weeks period of time, and took about 230 hours to complete. Everything was modeled and rendered in 3DS MAX 2. All textures were drawn in Photoshop.
Suburbs 2100 turned out to be a great success. It was awarded first place at a raytrace competition held at The Party'98 in Denmark. Later, it won an international Fantasy category contest held at the 3D Design & Animation Conference in USA. It was also featured in several magazines, 3D art educational books and was even shown on TV.

well, doubters of flying cars, our technology level has been doubling every two years since the fifties, but once we build thinking computers they'll be doing the thinking. they ARE technology, so they'll be doubling their efficiency every two years. if this continues, we should be upgrading our technology infinitely every two years by the year 2030. scary eh? anyway, I'm afraid I didn't like this picture as much as the others. to me this says "partly abandoned space port with an atmosphere". no hustle and bustle, but it IS a good pic.
Jesus.. One helluva great pic. But eye can't rest on it.. But hell, who cares! 3D isn't the same thing as hand made art, so... (And the one who said that we won't have flying cars in 99 years, hehe, we already do... they just are not for sale yet. They're more like jets though, but they can stay still in air.)

What an amazing picture. I really enjoy the attention you've paid to the catenary wires on the railroad tracks! Bein a model railroader, that brought the picture a little closer to me!

The textures here are authentic, and even the grease and rust on the bill-boards and the construction work are so realistic. And I agree: you've captured the atmosphere and movement very well. I think this pic is prety cool. It kind of reminds me of the fifth element or back to the future, because of the flying taxi's.
